Lady Eagles Swept By Comets

NEVADA, Mo. - The Williams softball team fell in both games of their doubleheader at Cottey College on Tuesday afternoon. They lost game one 12-0 and game two 14-3. With the losses the Lady Eagles are now 4-6 on the season.

Game One

The Lady Eagles were able to get a hit from Megan Weis to avoid being no-hit, but that was it at the plate. Angel Gillette got the start in the circle and pitched 1.1 innings, giving up seven runs off seven hits, walked one and struck out one. Tori Kierbach pitched 2.2 innings of relief and gave up five runs off six hits, walked three and struck out one. 

Game Two

Williams had a little bit more success at the plate in game two as they plated three runs off four hits. Laila Byas was walked with the bases-loaded in the second for a RBI, Kaydra Cole hit a RBI single in the third, and Shelby Jones scored in the fourth when Weis reached first off an error by the left-fielder. 

Cassidi Doyle pitched 1.1 innings and gave up seven runs off seven hits, walked three and struck out one. Maddie Wallace pitched 2.2 innings of relief and gave up seven runs off six hits and walked three. Doyle was credited with the loss.

The Lady Eagles travel to Gulf Shores, Ala. this weekend for the Gulf Coast Invitational. They play two games on Friday at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and two games on Saturday at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
