Lady Eagles Sweep Ecclesia in Midweek Tilt

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams softball team defeated the Ecclesia College Royals in a twin bill on Wednesday afternoon. They took game one 3-0 and game two 9-1 run-rule victory in six innings. With the wins the Lady Eagles are now 10-14 on the season.

Game One

The Lady Eagles plated two runs in the first inning when Alyssa Cordell hit a RBI sac fly and Megan Weis hit a RBI single. They then added a run in the third when Kaydra Cole hit a RBI single to left field. 

Cassidi Doyle pitched a complete game and gave up two hits, while striking out nine. 

Game Two

Williams got the scoring started in the third inning when Anna Besand hit a 2 RBI double to center field. The Royal responded in the fourth with a run to cut into the lead. The Lady Eagles got the run back in the home half of the fourth when Laila Byas hit a RBI triple. Cordell hit a solo homerun over the left field wall in the fifth inning. Williams plated five in the sixth inning to give themselves a run-rule victory. Madison Stokes started the rally with a RBI single, then Hali Williams and Besand walked with the bases loaded to bring home two more runs, Cordell hit a RBI sac fly, and Weis hit a RBI single to center to end the game. 

Angel Gillette pitched all 6.0 inning for the Lady Eagles and gave up one run off four hits, walked two and struck out eight. 

Up Next

Williams begins AMC play this weekend with a roadtrip to Missouri. They play Hannibal-LaGrange on Friday and Missouri Baptist on Saturday.
