Lady Eagles Swept By Lyon

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams softball team was swept by the Lyon College Scots in their Tuesday doubleheader. The Lady Eagles dropped game one 8-6 in eight innings and game two 6-4. The Lady Eagles are now 14-22 overall and 2-8 in conference play.

Game One

The Lady Eagles scored a run in the first off a RBI single from Kaydra Cole and a run in the second off a RBI sac bunt from Kennedie Laymance. The Scots tied it up in the top of the third, but the Lady Eagles retook the lead in the home half off a RBI sac fly from Cole. They added two runs in the fifth when Alyssa Cordell reached on an error that allowed Hali Williams to score and Cole hit a RBI double. The Scots took a 6-5 lead in the sixth. The Lady Eagles tied it in the bottom of the seventh when Madison Stokes walked with the bases loaded. The Scots would go on to win in the eighth inning. 

Angel Gillette pitched 8.0 innings for the Lady Eagles and gave up eight runs off nine hits, walked four and struck out seven. 

Game Two

The Scots scored a run in the first, but the Lady Eagles tied it up in the second off a RBI double by Kennedy Johnson. The Scots took a 3-1 lead in the third and the Lady Eagles got one run back in the home half of the third off a RBI single by Kaitlyn Anderson. Anna Besand tied the game in the fourth with a RBI bunt single. The Scots took a 6-3 lead in the fifth. Williams was able to get one run in the fourth off a RBI single from Cole. 

Maddie Wallace pitched 6.0 innings and gave up six runs off 10 hits, walked one and struck out one. Cassidi Doyle pitched 1.0 inning of relief and gave up one hit and struck out one.

The Lady Eagles travel to St. Louis on Thursday for a doubleheader against Missouri Baptist. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
