WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams softball team got two needed wins as they swept the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis Eutectics (UHSP) on Friday afternoon. They took the first game 2-0 and game two 3-1. The Lady Eagles are now 17-25 overall and 5-11 in conference play.
Game One
Williams plated two runs in the first inning and that was all they needed. Megan Weis hit a RBI bunt single and then Kaydra Cole reached on an error that allowed Weis to come around and score.
Angel Gillette pitched a complete game and gave up two hits while striking out six.
Game Two
The Lady Eagles took the lead in the second when Kaitlyn Anderson hit a RBI double. They extended their lead in the third when Weis hit a RBI single. The Eutectics plated a run in the sixth, but the Lady Eagles responded in the home half with a run courtesy of a RBI single from Naomi Crowley.
Maddie Wallace pitched a complete game and gave up one run off nine hits and struck out two.
Up Next
The Lady Eagles finish up conference play as they host Harris-Stowe State on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at noon. They will also be honoring their seniors after the games on Saturday.
