Lady Eagles Drop Pair of Losses To Start Gulf Shores Invitational

GULF SHORES, ALA. - The Williams softball team dropped their first two games of the Gulf Shores Invitational, falling 9-0 to (2) Mobile and 8-1 to (12) William Carey on Friday.

Game One

The Lady Eagles didn't have much luck against the (2) Mobile Rams in their early game on Friday, as they were only able get two hits in the game. The hits came off the bats of Kaydra Cole and Kaylee Wolfe

Alexis Rubio got the start in the circle and pitched 2.2 innings. She allowed four runs off five hits and walked five. Cassidi Doyle pitched 2.1 innings of relief and allowed five runs off four hits, walked two and struck out two. 

Game Two

The Lady Eagles had a little more luck against (12) William Carey, as they notched five hits and plated one run. That run came in the second inning when Madison Knight hit a RBI single to center that scored Rylee Boshell

Angel Gillette got the start in the circle and pitched 4.0 innings. She allowed six runs off nine hits, walked three and struck out two. Morgan Garner pitched 2.0 innings of relief and allowed two runs off three hits and struck out one.

Williams continues play in the Gulf Shores Invitational on Saturday with a pair of games. They will play Faulkner at 1:30 p.m. and then Southeastern Baptist at 5:30 p.m.
