Lady Eagles Sweep Pioneers

PARAGOULD, Ark. - The Williams softball team swept their Tuesday doubleheader against the Crowley's Ridge Pioneers, winning game one 7-1 and game two 6-1. With the wins, the Lady Eagles are now 9-15 on the season.

Game One

The Lady Eagles plated all seven of their runs in the second inning. Shelby Jones hit a RBI groundout, Megan Weis hit a RBI sing, Karsen Overshine reached on an error that allowed two to score, Alyssa Cordell hit a 2-RBI triple, and Kennedy Johnson hit a RBI double.

The Pioneers scored their lone run in the sixth inning. 

Angel Gillette got the start and pitched 6.0 innings. She allowed one run off four hits, walked two and struck out eight. Tori Kierbach pitched 1.0 inning of relief and struck out one. 

Game Two

The Lady Eagles spread out their runs a little bit in the second game, scoring two in the first, two in the third, and two in the seventh. Overshine and Cordell got it started with a RBI single and double, respectively, in the first. The two collected another RBI each in the third when Overshine hit a RBI groundout and Cordell hit a RBI single. In the seventh, Rylee Boshell reached on a RBI fielder's choice and Naomi Crowley hit a RBI single. 

The Pioneers scored their lone run in the seventh. 

Morgan Garner got the start and pitched a complete game. She allowed one run off four hits, walked one and struck out two. 

Up Next

The Lady Eagles are set to host Hannibal-LaGrange on Friday and Missouri Baptist on Saturday for a pair of doubleheaders. With the inclement weather expected on the Friday, this schedule will most likely change. Any schedule changes will be announced as soon as they are known on the Williams Baptist Athletics social media accounts.
