Lady Eagles Drop Pair of Close Ones to MBU

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams softball team dropped a pair of close games to the Missouri Baptist Spartans on Thursday afternoon, falling 1-0 in game one and 2-0 in game two. With the losses the Lady Eagles are now 9-17 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Game One

The first game of the day was a pitcher's dual between the Spartans and the Lady Eagles that saw a total of eight hits between the two teams. The Spartans plated their lone run in the fifth off a wild pitch. The Lady Eagles loaded up the bases in the sixth inning with two outs, but were unable to bring anyone home. 

Angel Gillette got the start and pitched a complete game for the Lady Eagles. She allowed one run off three hits, walked three and struck out one. 

Game Two

The Lady Eagles gave up a run in the first to find themselves down 1-0. They weren't able to get anything going offensively until the fifth inning when they were able to get runners on the corners, but weren't able to bring anyone home. 

Morgan Garner got the start and pitched a complete game for the Lady Eagles. She allowed two runs off six hits, walked one and struck out one.

The Lady Eagles will host Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday, April 1 at the WBU Softball Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
