WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Lady Eagles softball team fell in their Friday doubleheader to AMC newcomer's Cottey College, falling 12-1 in five innings in game one and 17-5 in game two.

Game One

The first game of the day was not kind to the Lady Eagles as they were one-hit, coming off the bat of Karsen Overshine in the fourth inning. They scored their lone run in the fifth when Kennedy Johnson drew a leadoff walk. Maddi Altenthal came in as a pinch runner and was moved over to second by a groundout from Madison Knight, and then came around to score on an error by the catcher.

Angel Gillette got the start and pitched 4.0 innings. She allowed nine runs off 12 hits and struck out two. Morgan Garner pitched 1.0 inning of relief and allowed three runs off three hits.

Game Two

The second game of the day was slightly better for the Lady Eagles. They came out swinging and plated five runs in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead. First, Kaylee Wolfe hit a RBI single, then Shelby Jones hit a RBI single, and Overshine hit a 3-run bomb to left field. However, their celebration was short-lived as the Comets plated eight runs in the third and three runs in the fourth to take an 11-5 lead. They extended their lead with six runs in the seventh to make it a 17-5 game.
