WBU Falls to CBC in AMC Finale

CONWAY, Ark. (4/23/24) - The Williams Baptist softball team fell to Central Baptist College 8-0 and 5-3 in the final American Midwest Conference matchup of the season Tuesday afternoon at City of Colleges Stadium.

The Lady Eagles fell behind 5-0 after three innings in game one and never found their footing offensively to mount a comeback. The Lady Mustangs added a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to complete the run-rule victory.

CBC carried the offensive momentum into the early part of game two with two runs in the first inning, but the Lady Eagles got on the scoreboard in the second inning on a Kennedy Johnson RBI single to cut the lead in half.

The Lady Mustangs plated a run in the third inning to push the advantage back to two runs, but Kaylee Wolfe answered in the top of the fourth inning with a 2-run double to tie the game at 3-3.

Central Baptist broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth with a 2-run home run by Lauren Anderson and then held on for the victory as WBU failed to rally in the seventh.

With the losses, WBU fell to 31-15 on the season and 14-4 in the AMC.

Williams will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, April 27 with a non-conference matchup against Mission University, with senior day festivities also set for the day.
