WBU Softball Picked to Finish Second in AMC Preseason Poll
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/29/25) – The Williams Baptist University softball team was selected to finish second in the American Midwest Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, released by the conference on Wednesday.
The Lady Eagles received 99 points in the poll with two first place votes. Missouri Baptist was picked to win the poll with 106 points and seven first place votes.
The Lady Eagles went 37-17 overall and 14-4 in AMC play last season. Williams finished tied for second with Central Baptist in the regular season, and made a run to the championship game in the AMC Tournament.
WBU returns the AMC Player of the Year and AMC Freshman of the Year in Madyson Busselle (Shoebottom) and Emberlin Caldwell, as well as AMC All-Conference selections in Kaylee Wolfe and Morgan Garner.
Newcomers McKenna Bittle and Ashlyn Michael look to make immediate impacts in the lineup. Bittle posted a 2.45 ERA in 126 innings for UA-Rich Mountain, and Michael led Van Buren High School in almost every offensive category as a senior.
The Lady Eagles will kick off the 2025 campaign on Saturday, Feb. 8 at home against Ozarks. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. from the WBU Softball Field.
