WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (2/28/25) – The Williams Baptist University softball team split its doubleheader against Lindsey Wilson by the final scores of 6-2 and 4-2 in day one of the FHU Classic in Henderson Tenn. on Friday afternoon.
WBU dropped game one 4-2 to the Blue Raiders. Kaylee Wolfe headlined the Eagles offense with both RBI's on a 2-for-4 line at the plate with a double.
Lindsey Wilson took the lead with two runs in the second and added on one more in the third. The Lady Eagles cut the lead to two with a run in the fifth, but the Blue Raiders responded with three insurance runs in the sixth. WBU was unable to complete the comeback to take its first loss of the season.
The Lady Eagles bounced back in game two with a 4-2 win. Madyson Busselle led the charge at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI's in the win.
Williams struck for three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and added another in the third to go up 4-0.
Lindsey Wilson cut the lead to two with runs in the fourth and fifth, but Morgan Garner shut down the Blue Raiders for the win.
Garner went seven innings with two earned runs and two strikeouts to earn her third win of the season.
The Lady Eagles move to 7-1 overall on the season. Next, WBU will face Freed-Hardeman for two games to round out the FHU Classic on Saturday, Mar. 1. First pitch of game one is set for 4 p.m. at Tucker Field in Henderson, Tenn.
