WBU Drops Doubleheader to No. 8 Central Methodist

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (3/12/25) – The Williams Baptist University softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to No. 8 Central Methodist by the final scores of 5-2 and 7-5 at the WBU Softball Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Madyson Busselle led the way at the plate for WBU, going 3-for-7 with two RBI's and two runs scored across both games.  Jadyn Kobrin also had a big day at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI's and a run scored.

WBU took the lead early in game one courtesy of an RBI single from Madyson Busselle in the bottom of the first.  CMU responded with three runs in the second and one in the third to go up 4-1.

Jadyn Kobrin scored on a double play in the bottom of the fifth to cut the CMU lead to two, but the Eagles were unable to mount a comeback as WBU fell 5-2 in game one.

Williams grabbed an early lead once again in game two, this time on an RBI single from Natalia Watkins in the bottom of the first.  

After CMU responded with a run in the top of the second, Watkins came around to score in the bottom of the third to break the tie.  CMU capitalized on errors to post four runs in the top of the fourth and take a 5-2 lead.

Paige Thomas singled to plate Busselle and cut the lead to two, but Central Methodist pushed its lead back to four after two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Jadyn Kobrin laced a two-run triple into the right field corner to cut the lead back to two, but the Lady Eagles were unable to capitalize on the momentum of the big swing and fell 7-5.

The losses drop WBU to 11-6 overall on the year.  The Lady Eagles will return to the diamond on Thursday, Mar. 13 in a doubleheader against Lyon College.  First pitch against the Scots is set for 2 p.m. from the WBU Softball Field.
