WBU Offense Catches Fire in 12-1 Victory Over Lyon

BATESVILLE, Ark. (4/1/25) – The Williams Baptist University softball team took a dominant 12-1 win in five innings over Lyon in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

Madyson Busselle led the way at the plate for WBU, going 3-for-4 with four RBI's and three runs scored in the contest.  Ashlyn Michael and Breann Thresher also drove in multiple runs for the Lady Eagles.

Busselle got the Eagles on the board early with a three-run homer in the top of the first.  After Lyon plated a run in the bottom half of the inning, Breann Thresher responded with a two-run double to right center in the top of the second to put Williams up 5-1.

WBU owned the game from then on.  Taylor Hooten scored on a groundout before Busselle doubled to drive in another run in the top of the third, then Ashlyn Michael hit a two-run homer later in the frame to put WBU up 9-1.

The Lady Eagles added two in the fourth and one more in the fifth to secure the 12-1 victory over Lyon.

Emberlin Caldwell got the win after throwing five innings on one earned run with five strikeouts.

The Lady Eagles move to 20-10 overall on the season.  Williams will return to the diamond on Monday, Apr. 7 with a conference doubleheader against Harris-Stowe State.  First pitch is set for 2 p.m. from St. Louis, Mo.
