Bio
Jessica Nutt was brought in as the Head Softball Coach at Williams Baptist prior to the start of the 2020 season.
In the 2024 campaign, Nutt led the Eagles to a 37-17 overall finish with a 14-4 mark in AMC play, the team’s first 35+ win season since 2016. The run included a trip to the AMC Tournament Championship, and a second place finish in the AMC standings. The Eagles were powered by the AMC Freshman of the Year in Emberlin Caldwell and the AMC Player of the Year in Madyson Shoebottom. Shoebottom was named an NAIA Third Team All-American, and an NFCA NAIA Second Team All-American. Seven Eagles made appearances on the AMC All-Conference teams, and 22 were named to the AMC Academic All-Conference team.
In 2023, Nutt led the Eagles to a 19 win season, punctuated by a 21-10 win over Stephens in the AMC Tournament. One Eagle was named to the AMC All-Conference First Team and four more were named to the AMC All-Conference Second Team, while 25 Eagles were named to the AMC Academic All-Conference list.
In 2022, the Eagles finished with 20 wins once again. Nutt coached one Eagle to an AMC First Team All-Conference selection and two more to AMC Second Team All-Conference selections. 21 Eagles were named to the AMC Academic All-Conference list.
In her first full season in 2021, WBU won 20 games and had a 10-8 mark in conference play. Two Eagles were named to the AMC All-Conference First Team, and four were named to the AMC All-Conference Second Team. The team placed 22 players on the AMC Academic All-Conference list as well.
In the shortened 2020 season, WBU finished with an 8-8 record. The program placed 20 on the AMC Academic All-Conference list.
Prior to becoming the head of WBU, Nutt served as an assistant at Evangel from 2016-2019. She also coached at the high school level at Weaubleau High School from 2013-2016.
Nutt played at Hannibal-LaGrange University from 2007-2011. Nutt played in 138 games for the Trojans over four her four year collegiate career.
Nutt graduated from Hannibal-LaGrange in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education. She also holds a Master’s Degree from Southwest Baptist University in Athletic Administration.
