Lady Eagles Top Century Mark in Homecoming Victory

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/4/23)  – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team won its Homecoming match up 102-79 over the Champion Christian College Tigers.

Kaylee Clark put on another show, leading the team with 29 points on 12-of-21, while also knocking down a pair of 3-pointers. She also added four rebounds, four assists, and three steals to her line.  Charmen Taylor added 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting with three rebounds, five steals, and a block. Her sister Carmen Taylor scored 11 points, while dishing out eight assists and collecting five steals.

The Lady Eagles pulled away early taking a 19-9 lead after five minutes. The Tigers would fight back, however, and an Olivia Sepulvado three ball that brought the Tigers within five, 28-23 at the end of the first.

The Tigers would continue to threaten as a McKenzie Jones three pointer brought Champion within two points of the Eagles.  A foul and two free throws from Monica Horne would add a little bit of room to the lead.  After a timeout, the Eagles would go on a 13-0 run to bring the game to the halftime buzzer with a score of 56-38.

Williams would really pull away in the third quarter, outscoring the Tigers 31-18 out of the locker room.

The game would not get much closer after that as Jazma Hooks provided the exclamation point with 1:48 left in the ball game, putting the Lady Eagles at 102 points for the afternoon. Champion would add eight points after that, but the final score would stand at 102-79 for an Eagles Homecoming victory.
