Lady Eagles Down Pioneers on the Road

PARAGOULD, Ark. (11/21/23) - The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team beat Crowley's Ridge College 90-76 on the road Tuesday afternoon.

The Taylor twins led the Lady Eagles to victory in this game.  Charmen Taylor put up 22 points on 9-for-16 shooting, 12 rebounds, and seven assists and led the team in all three categories.  Her sister Carmen added 21 points on 8-for-19 shooting and eight rebounds.  Kaylee Clark had 15 points on 7-for-14 shooting with nine boards, and Taylor Hooten finished with seven points and 11 rebounds.

The Eagles shot 45.0 percent from the field as a team, and out-rebounded the Pioneers 62-36.  WBU dominated down low scoring 56 points in the paint.

Carmen Taylor would open up scoring quickly with a layup 24 seconds in.  After a three-point play from Crowley's Ridge, WBU went on a 9-0 run to take an 11-3 lead early.  The Lady Eagles would lead 23-19 at the end of the first quarter.

After going into the half up 45-34, WBU would open the second half with a 7-0 run to force a Pioneers timeout and go up 52-34.

Brylee Durbin would hit a jump shot before the final buzzer to end the game 90-76.

With the win, Williams Baptist improves its record to 5-1.  The team will return to the Southerland-Mabee Center on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Noon to take on Baptist Bible College.
