Eagles Drop Road Exhibition Contest to Ouachita Baptist

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team fell in an exhibition contest to Ouachita Baptist by the score of 91-85 in Arkadelphia on Saturday.

The Lady Eagles were led by Carmen Taylor with 36 points, the second straight game with 35 or more points for her. Kaylee Clark also added 24 to the total. Charmen Taylor and Kaylee Clark tied for the team-lead in rebounds with five boards each, and Taylor Hooten led the squad with nine assists.

WBU shot 46.3 percent from the field as a team and 50 percent from three point range. The Lady Eagles were outrebounded by the Tigers 47-29, but won the turnover battle 25-19.

Ouachita began the game taking a 20-12 lead in the first quarter courtesy of a 7-0 run, but WBU responded with a 9-0 run of its own to take a 21-20 lead capped off by a Carmen Taylor three-pointer.

The Lady Eagles would go into the locker room 56-42 after being outscored 26-19 in the second quarter.

WBU would match OBU out of the locker room keeping the Tigers lead at 15 going into the fourth quarter. The Lady Eagles would spark a rally in the fourth with an 11-2 run, cutting the lead down to nine with 4:07 left in the game.

Kaylee Clark would cut the OBU lead to six with a layup with 58 seconds left, but that would be as close as the Eagles would get.

The loss will not reflect on Williams Baptist's record on the season, as the team currently carries a 7-3 record.

The Lady Eagles will return to American Midwest Conference action on Thursday, Jan. 4 in Nevada, Mo. against Cottey College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
