Big Night For Taylor Twins Propels WBU to Road Win Over Mustangs

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/9/25) - The Williams Baptist women's basketball team defeated Central Baptist College in a conference matchup on Tuesday by the final score of 89-58.

The Taylor twins lit up the stat sheet for the Lady Eagles. Carmen Taylor led the team with 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting. Charmen Taylor followed close behind with 14 on 6-for-10. Taylor Hooten and Monica Horne paced the team in rebounds, both gathering eight boards in the contest. Horne also added 10 points. Kaylee Clark also pitched in 11 points with a team-high seven assists.

WBU shot 49.3 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range.  The Lady Eagles defense forced 28 turnovers from CBC, and scored 26 points off of those turnovers on the other end.

After losing the tip and giving up the first bucket of the game, the Lady Eagles took the lead on a 9-0 run in the first quarter.  The Mustangs stormed back after, bringing the game to a 9-7 Eagles lead before WBU went on a 10-0 run to take a 19-7 lead.

CBC would cut the lead to one with four minutes left in the second quarter, but a 12-0 run powered by the Taylor twins would give the Lady Eagles a 44-33 lead going into halftime.

The Lady Eagles would not slow down out of the locker room, opening the third quarter with a 13-0 run, punctuated by a Raigan Head layup. Head would later knock down a three to put WBU up 30 points at the end of the third quarter.

The road win improves the Lady Eagles to 9-3 overall on the season, and 2-1 in conference play.

WBU will be back in action Thursday, Jan. 8 in the Southerland-Mabee Center when the team takes on Harris-Stowe State in conference play. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
