Lady Eagles Fall in Road Contest Against Stars

COLUMBIA, Mo. (1/18/24) - The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team fell on the road to AMC foe Stephens College by the score of 90-62 on Thursday night.

Carmen Taylor led the team in points with 20. Sara Crowe also added 16 and Kaylee Clark poured in 12.  Crowe also paced the team with eight boards on the night.

As a team, the Lady Eagles shot 36 percent from the field. The Lady Eagles were only 2-for-13 from three-point range, and lost the turnover battle 24-20.

The Stars came out hot as could be, beginning the game with a 16-2 run to take a 20-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Williams struggled to catch Stephens after that, as the home team shot a blistering 55.3 percent from the field in the first half, including 37.5 percent from three-point range. The Lady Eagles went into the locker room down 47-21 at halftime.

The Lady Eagles came out of the locker room and shot 40 percent from the field in the second half, but Stephens never slowed down.

WBU out-scored Stephens in the fourth quarter 19-15, but it would not be enough to take the game.

The loss drops Williams to 11-4 on the season, and 4-2 in conference play. Stephens College moves to 11-5 and 6-1 in AMC play.

The Lady Eagles look to get back on track Saturday, Jan. 20 against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, Mo. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 PM.
