WBU Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams Set for AMC Tournament

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (2/26/24) - The Williams Baptist University men's and women's basketball teams each earned berths into the American Midwest Conference Tournament Presented by Tandem HR.

The Lady Eagles are the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 6 Cottey (17-11, 9-9) Friday, March 1 at 2:15 p.m. at the Arena of Southwell Complex on the campus of Columbia University. The Cougars are hosting the entire women's tournament after finishing as the No. 1 overall seed in the AMC standings. 

Williams finished the season with a 22-5 overall record and 15-3 mark in league play. Kaylee Clark finished the regular season averaging 20.3 points per game, which ranked third among all players in the AMC. Charmen Taylor led the league in field goal percentage (52.7) while Taylor Hooten ranked second in assists with an average of 4.7 per game.

The men's squad will travel to No. 4 Williams Woods (18-8, 10-4) after finishing fifth in the league standings. The Eagles finished with an overall record of 13-12 and 5-9 mark in the AMC. The quarterfinal matchup is to tipoff at 7 p.m. from Anderson Arena in Fulton, Mo. 

Ben Keton (13.7) and Duke Hardin (13.5) each ranked in the top-10 in scoring in the AMC, while T.J. Clardy (5.7) was among the league leaders in rebounding.
