Taylor Named NAIA Second Team All-American

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (3/31/25) – Williams Baptist University women's basketball senior Carmen Taylor has been named an NAIA Second Team All-American, the national office announced on Monday morning.

The American Midwest Conference player of the year led the AMC and finished 12th in the nation in scoring average at 20.2 points per game in a stellar season for the Lady Eagles.

The Memphis, Tenn. native was a core piece to a Williams team that shattered the program's single-season win record with 28 victories.  WBU earned its second consecutive trip to the NAIA Tournament, and Taylor dropped 14 points in WBU's first ever NAIA Tournament victory over Mobile.

Taylor also shined on the defensive side of the ball, as she led the AMC in steals with 92 and was named to the league's All-Defensive Team.

"Carmen is an outstanding example of how important it is for a player to find their fit," said WBU head coach John Mayberry.  "She was not concerned with the division or title of where she played.  She was only concerned about finding a place that fit her and working hard to be great once she got there, and now she is an All-American.  We could not be more proud."

Carmen Taylor is the first NAIA All-American for Williams women's basketball since Taylor Freeman in the 2019-20 season, and is the first ever NAIA Second Team All-American in school history.

She departs WBU with the sixth-most points scored in a career at Williams with 1,213.  She is the first Lady Eagle to score over 1,000 points in only two seasons.
