Lady Eagles Drop AMC Opener to Stephens

The Lady Eagles got things going quickly when Cierra Clayton scored in the 6th minute off a pass from Livvie Campbell. Campbell was able to find space down the right hand side and passed the ball to Clayton, who curled it into the top right corner of the goal, past where the Stars' keeper could reach it.

The Stars responded in the 22nd minute with an equalizing goal. The rest of the first half was an electric, end-to-end game that saw both teams getting chances.

The second half started out more defensive, with each team being careful not to make the first mistake. Finally, in the 75th minute, the Stars found the breakthrough goal to give them a 2-1 lead over the Lady Eagles.

This seemed to wake the Lady Eagles up and they were more attacking on offense, but were unable to find an equalizer in the dying minutes of the game.

Williams finished with 11 shots and seven on goal.

Paige Carlyle made five saves in goal for the Lady Eagles.
