Lady Eagles Soccer Drop Home Match to Owls

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/21/23)  – The Williams Baptist University women's soccer team lost to Williams Woods University 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the WBU Soccer Field. 

Kenzie Hatman connected on the only goal of the game for Williams in the 84th minute when she converted a penalty kick. The scoring opportunity was set up when Livvie Campbell went into the box on a breakaway and was taken down by the Williams Woods defender. Hatman was selected to take the penalty kick and put the strike home for her third goal of the season.

The Owls took the early lead in the 13th minute on a strike from Lauren Helmert and added to their in the 25th and 38th minutes on goals by Sydney Balducci and Mackenzie Boyle. Cindy Gonazles buried home a strike in the 42nd minute to give Williams Woods a 4-0 edge at the break.

In the second half, Lauren Helmert connected for a goal in the 57th and Leah Hays rounded the scoring for the Owls in the 81st with a goal.

WBU will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 24 in a home contest against Central Baptist College at the WBU Soccer Field. First kick is set for 1 p.m., with senior day activities taking place approximately 30 minutes before the game.
