WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (9/7/24) – The Williams Baptist University women's soccer team secured its first win of the young season against Randall on Saturday afternoon by the final score of 3-1.
WBU put four shots on goal in the first half, but none were able to get past the goal line. The two squads went scoreless into the break after the first 45 minutes.
Out of the locker room, Randall became the first team on the board in the 50th minute thanks to a goal from Victoria Hito.
The Eagles responded only eleven minutes later when Mackenzie Souers got past the Randall keeper to bury her first goal of the season, and tie the match at one score a piece.
Danarria Thomas put Williams up for the first time in the game with a goal in the 77th minute that came with an assist from Souers.
Victoria de Abreu joined the party only two minutes later in the 79th, to put the game out of reach for Randall for a 3-1 Williams win.
Lisa Craig played all 90 minutes between the sticks for WBU, tallying four saves.
The Lady Eagles will be back at home on Tuesday, Sept. 10 for a match with Lyon. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the WBU Soccer Field.
