Lady Eagles Drop Home Match to Jamestown

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (9/14/24) – The Williams Baptist University women's soccer team fell at home to Jamestown by the final score of 7-3 on Saturday afternoon.

Jamestown wasted no time getting on the board early, with a goal in only the second minute of the match.  The Jimmies scored again in the 25th minute to push the advantage to 2-0 before halftime.

Jamestown scored four more times out of the locker room in the first 10 minutes of the second half to push the score to 6-0.

WBU began to fight back midway through the second half when Chloe Kraenzel scored the first Eagle goal of the match in the 66th minute.

Mackenzie Souers scored the second goal for the Eagles thanks to a beautiful through ball from Irene Cabanas Pena that cut the deficit to 6-2.

Brinley Blake put another goal in for Williams in the 80th minute on a corner kick from Victoria de Abreu, but the Eagles failed to complete the comeback, falling 7-3 in the final game of the three game homestand.

Lisa Craig and Gracielee Edwards split time at goalkeeper in the match, with Craig grabbing nine saves and Edwards saving five.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action on the road in McKenzie, Tenn. against Bethel on Friday, Sept. 20.  Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m.
