Eagles Fall Short Against Spartans, 1-0

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/5/24) – The Williams Baptist University women's soccer team fell just short against Missouri Baptist in an American Midwest Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon by the final score of 1-0.

The Eagles offense put up nine shots, five of which were on target.  

Victoria de Abreu wasted no time with a shot on goal that was saved in the second minute of the match.  De Abreu put up four of WBU's five shots on goal, all of which were saved by the Spartans keeper.

Mackenzie Souers threatened in the 23rd minute with a good look on the goal, but her shot was saved.

Missouri Baptist found the game's lone score in the 30th minute to go up 1-0.  The Spartans managed to keep WBU off the scoreboard in the second half, holding the Eagles to only three shots.

WBU goalkeeper Lisa Craig tallied 10 saves in 90 minutes between the posts.  

The loss drops the Eagles to 3-8 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.  The Eagles will look to get back above .500 in league play on Saturday, Oct. 12 against William Woods.  Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. from Fulton, Mo.
