De Abreu Buries Program-High Seven Goals in Win Over CBC

CONWAY, Ark. (10/22/24) – Williams Baptist University women's soccer freshman Victoria de Abreu set a new WBU school record with seven goals in a win over Central Baptist on Tuesday night.

The mark shatters the previous record of four goals in a game set by Jeri Stacy against Stephens in 2013 and Rhaegan Linn against Ecclesia in 2018.  De Abreu also set the new single-season goals record at WBU with 13 over Rhaegan Linn's 11 in 2018.

De Abreu scored her first goal of the game in the 18th minute of the match with an assist from Juanita Trujillo.  She went on to score unassisted in the 24th and 36th for a first half hat trick to send WBU into halftime with a 3-0 lead.

Out of the intermission, the Lecheria, Venezuela native buried her fourth score in the 64th minute, then scored her fifth only 20 seconds later.  She scored again in the 72nd minute, and netted her seventh and final goal in the 82nd minute to give WBU a 7-0 win.

Lisa Craig played the first 71 minutes in goal for the Eagles securing one save in her only chance.  Gracielee Edwards played the final 19 minutes between the sticks off the bench, converting her only save chance.

The win moves WBU to 4-10-0 on the season, and 2-3-0 in conference action.

The Lady Eagles will return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 26 on the road against Harris-Stowe State.  Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. from St. Louis, Mo.
