De Abreu Captures AMC Freshman of the Year Honor

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/8/24) – Williams Baptist women's soccer freshman Victoria de Abreu was named the American Midwest Conference Freshman of the Year as the league office announced its set of 2024 awards.

De Abreu was given the top freshman honor in the AMC after finishing third in the league in goals with 14 scores, and third in the league in points with 32.  The Lecheria, Venezuela native put up a .671 shot on goal percentage while starting 15 games for the Lady Eagles.  De Abreu was also named to the AMC All-Conference First Team.

WBU also placed freshman Irene Cabanas Pena on the AMC All-Conference Second Team after her debut season.  Pena scored three goals with two assists in 16 games started for Williams.

Brinley Blake was named the WBU representative for the AMC Champions of Character Team.  

WBU will return to the pitch on Friday, Nov. 8 to take on William Woods in the quarterfinal round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament.  Kick-off is set for 6 p.m. in Fulton, Mo.
