Coleman, Marlow Capture Individual Titles at Snow Bird Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (1/20/24) - Tucker Coleman captured the men's shot put title and Allyson Marlow won the women's triple jump as the Williams Baptist track and field team competed in the Snow Bird Invitational on Saturday.

Coleman had a winning toss of 13.19m (43' 3.25") to capture his first title of the season as those competing in the field events enjoyed an overall strong performance. Marlow won the women's triple jump with a leap of 9.77m (32' 0.75").

Jacob Short finished second in the event with a throw of 13.00m (42' 8"), while Tyler Gramling was second in the men's triple jump with a leap of 5.76m (18' 10.75"). Byron Lewis earned a second place finish in the men's high jump with a jump of 1.75m (5' 8.75").

In other field events Gramling finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.76m (18' 10.75"), while Coleman was fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.49m (47' 6.5"), while Short was 10th (12.16m-39' 10.75") in the event. Karlis Smith finished fifth in the pole vault with a leap of 3.25m (10' 8").

Lamont Evans had the best finish in the runners group by finishing 20th in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:00.93, while Jason Detrick was 23rd with a time of 1:03.98.

Ralph Iweriebor finished 26th in the 200 meter run with a time of 25.26. Lewis was right behind him in 27th (25.62), while Gramling was 29th (25.87).

The women's team also had strong outings in several events,led by Marlow's title in the triple jump. Mikey Larson was fourth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 12:28.61, while Calista Christian was eighth (12.72m-41' 8.75") in the weight throw.

Christian also finished 12th (8.79m-28' 10.25") in the shot put, while Marlow was 11th (4.39m-14' 5") in the long jump. 

In running events Madison Mittag was 21st in the 200 meter run with a time of 29.96, while Marlow was right behind her in 22nd place (30.30). Mittag also finished 14th in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:11.92.

The team returns to action Jan. 26-27 at the Principia Relays in Elsah, Ill.
