WBU Track and Field Teams Compete at AMC Indoor Championships
ELSAH, Ill. (2/17/24) – The Williams Baptist University track and field teams took part in the American Midwest Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday.
Mikey Larson took home the best individual finish of the day with a 2nd place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:26.25. Her time also set a new school record in the event and she earned All-Conference honors for her second-place finish.
Karlis Smith was third in the men's pole vault with a vault 10-6.00, which also set a new WBU record in the event. His finish also earned him an AMC Third-Team All-Conference honor.
Tucker Coleman finished 10th in the men's weight throw with a distance of 13.51 meters, which set a personal record for him, with Jacob Short following close behind in 11th with a distance of 13.01 meters, which was also a personal best.
Allyson Marlow turned in a fourth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 9.94 meters.
Calista Christian finished sixth in the women's weight throw and set a new personal record with a distance of 13.36-meters, while Kady Greer placed 21st with a throw of 8.70 meter. Christian also was 14th in the shot put with a toss of 9.92 meters, while Greer finished 21st (7.92m).
Ty Gramling picked up a seventh place finish in the men's triple jump with an 11.67 meter bound (personal best) , while also finishing 14th in the long jump with a leap of 5.38 meters. He also finished 19th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.90 and 18th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.05, both of which were personal bests. Ronald Hill also had a personal best in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.41.
Cody Carden was 21st in the event with a toss of 9.31 meters.
Byron Lewis was eighth in the men's high (1.65m) and Dayshia Espinoza-Ford was 11th (2.89m) in the women's competition.
In the men's shot put, Jacob Short was eighth with a throw of 13.26m, while Cody Carden was 21st with a toss of 8.88 meter.
In the track events, Ralph Iwriebor placed 14th in the 200m dash with a final time of 24.09. Gramling also picked up an 18th place finish with a time of 25.05.
Lamont Evans placed 11th (59.37) in the 400 meter dash, while his teammate Jason Detrick was 13th (1:00.16). Maddison Mittag was 21st (1:10.60) in the women's race and 15th (29.30) in the 200 meter dash. Her time in the 200 meter dash was also a new personal record.
As a team the men's squad finished seventh overall with 16 points, while the women's team was eighth with 20 points.
