Eagles Compete at Central Methodist Open

FAYETTE, Mo. (3/19/24) - The Williams Baptist Track and Field program had a strong showing in the Central Methodist Open this past weekend at Davis Field and Hairston Track. 

Central Methodist hosted the CMU Open, which featured hundreds of athletes from 14 different schools. 

Tucker Coleman posted the best individual finish with a fourth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 14.23m. The junior also placed sixth and broke the school record with a throw of 47.53m in the hammer throw and then placed eighth in the discus with a toss of 38.90m.

Jacob Short set personal bests in both the discus and hammer throws. In the discus he had a toss of 33.27m (14th) and then had a throw of 36.72m (16th) in the hammer throw. Cody Carden also had personal bests in each event, recording distances of 28.63m (19th) in the hammer throw and 24.65 (29th) in the discus. The sophomore also had a 13th place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 33.16m.

In the women's discus throw, Kady Greer set a personal record with a throw of 24.83m (17th) and then also finished 20th in the shot put with a toss of 8.57m. 

Kiasia Burns had a personal best time of 13.86 (22nd) in the 100 meter dash and also PR'd in the 200 meter race with a time of 29.51 (28th). She also finished 14th in the long jump with a leap of 4.66m. 

Miracle Holmes placed 25th in the 200 meter dash (28.93), while in the men's race Ralph Iweriebor finished 36th (24.36), followed by Ty Gramling (24.46) in 38th and Lamont Evans in 43rd (24.78). Iweriebor also placed 29th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.04m while Evans was 20th in the 400 meter race with a mark of 57.45. Gramling turned in an 18th place in the men's long jump with a leap of 5.31m. 

The squad returns to competition Friday, March 29 for the Joey Haines Invite in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
