Lady Eagles Fall at Home to CRC

The Williams Baptist University volleyball team lost to Crowley's Ridge College 25-19, 25-17, 25-15 in a non-conference matchup on Thursday night.

Hope Raymond led WBU in kills and digs with nine and 18 respectively, while also recording four service aces.  Sophie Allred recorded 14 assists on the night.

The Lady Eagles started the night strong by taking a 10-2 lead early in the first set thanks to four attack errors from CRC.  Crowley's would storm back, however, bringing the score back to 13-12 before forcing a Williams timeout. The Eagles would answer with a couple points before allowing CRC to score four straight and take the lead 20-15.  The two teams would trade points until CRC forced a bad set to end the first set 25-19

The second set started much the same way the first set ended, as the Pioneers quickly jumped out to an 8-1 lead.  The Lady Eagles went on a five point run behind two kills and an ace from Hope Raymond to come within two, but WBU could never get a true run going.  The two sides went back and forth until Crowley's Jillian Glasgow ended the set with a kill, 25-17.

WBU started strong in the third set, matching CRC blow for blow until the score got to 10-8 in favor of the Lady Eagles.  Crowley's Ridge would then go on an offensive tear, outscoring WBU 11-3 until a Lady Eagles timeout with the score at 19-13. The attack would continue, however, as the Eagles were only able to score two points before the set ended 25-15.

The Lady Eagles will begin a five game roadstand with another non-conference match this Saturday against Centenary College in Shreveport, La, with first serve set for noon.
