Lady Eagles Struggle to Find Footing in Road Loss

The Williams Baptist University women's volleyball team fell on the road to American Midwest Conference foe William Woods by the score of 25-16, 25-10, 25-11 on Monday night.

Tinleigh Ruhman led the Eagles with nine kills.  Sophie Allred led the team with nine assists with Laykin Harkcom right behind her with eight.  Krista Jones and Alonna Thomas tied for the team lead in digs with five in the contest.

The hosts jumped on WBU early by edging a 12-10 lead in the beginning of the first set, before going on a 13-7 run to take the first set.

The Eagles struggled with momentum in the second set, as the squad was never able to put together.  The Owls jumped on the Eagles with a 10 point run to take a 12-2 lead and never looked back, securing the second frame 25-10.

The third set fared no better for the Lady Eagles, though the team would battle to bring the score even at six points a piece to start the set. From there, however, William Woods would pull away from the Eagles, including a nine point run to finish the set, and the match 25-11.

The Lady Eagles will continue the road trip tomorrow in St. Louis, Mo. against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in another AMC matchup.
