Lady Eagles Fall to No. 9 Missouri Baptist

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/2/23)  – The Williams Baptist University volleyball team fell to the No. 9 ranked Missouri Baptist Spartans by the score of 25-11, 25-4, and 25-9.

Krista Jones led WBU in kills with three on the night, and Laykin Harkcom led the team in both assists and digs with six.

The Lady Eagles started the game off hot, taking a 5-2 lead early in the first set behind multiple attack errors by MBU, as well as big kills from Krista Jones and Halli Bollinger-Yount.  MBU was able to tie the set back up at six points a piece behind a service ace from Natalie Edson.  The Eagles relented a 19-5 run for the Spartans after that, as Missouri Baptist took the first set 25-11.

The Lady Eagles struggled to get anything going in the second and third sets.  Missouri Baptist only had one error in the second set to take a convincing 25-4 win.  The third set was much the same, capped off by a 10-1 run to secure the sweep for MBU.

The Lady Eagles will play again Friday, Nov. 3 at p.m. when they host Harris-Stowe State University for senior night.
