WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/3/23)  – The Williams Baptist University volleyball team lost to Harris-Stowe 25-21, 25-17, 26-24, 25-19 Friday evening on senior night at the Southerland-Mabee Center.

The third set was a thriller that saw Williams take a 10-3 after a Hope Raymond Kill. The advantage grew to 15-9 on a kill by Halli Bollinger-Yount and then 20-12 on a kill by Krista Jones. Harris-Stowe refused to go quietly however, and rallied to tie the set at 22-22. After trading points the set was tied again at 24-24 before the Eagles forced the Hornets into back-to-back attacking errors to close out the set to pull within 2-1.

WBU was unable to carry the momentum in the fourth set, however and quickly fell behind 16-9. The Eagles put together a rally through the middle part of the set to get within 19-17, but Harris-Stowe find form again and closed out the set to win 25-19.

The first was at 6-6 early on but the Hornets rallied off four of the next five points to build a 10-7 edge. Williams continued to hang close throughout the set and closed to within 16-14, but Harris-Stowe again pushed its advantage back to four at 19-15. The Eagles got within 21-20 after an Alonna Thomas service ace, but Harris-Stowe bared down defensively and held WBU to just one more point for the remainder of the set to win 25-21.

In the second set, Williams took a 9-8 lead after a Hornets attack error, but Harris-Stowe responded with a strong offensive effort to go up 16-10. The Eagles pulled within 20-17 late, but the Hornets finished the set on a 5-0 run to go up 2-0 in the match.
