ST. LOUIS, Mo. (9/27/24) – The Williams Baptist University volleyball team opened American Midwest Conference play in a 3-0 loss to Missouri Baptist on Friday night.
Tinleigh Ruhman and Meadow Jones both tied for the team lead in kills with three, Riley Henson paced the squad in digs with 12, and Jaycie Cook led with nine assists.
The Eagles struggled to find an offensive rhythm throughout the contest. A 9-1 run gave the Spartans a 16-6 lead that WBU was unable to recover from. MBU went on to take the first set 25-13.
The Spartans got out to a big 16-1 lead in the second set. The Eagles fought back for 10 points, but Missouri Baptist put the set away at 25-11.
Missouri Baptist finished the match with another 25-11 in the third set to hand the Eagles their first conference loss of the season.
WBU continues conference play on Saturday, September 28 on the road against Hannibal-LaGrange. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time from Hannibal, Mo.
