Lady Eagles Yield Result to Trojans in Road Contest
HANNIBAL, Mo. (9/28/24) – The Williams Baptist University volleyball team fell on the road to Hannibal-LaGrange University 3-0 in an American Midwest Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
Meadow Jones led the team with six kills on the day for a hitting percentage of .308, while Darcy Broglin worked well on the other side of the net with four total blocks.
Down 12-7 in the first set, the Eagles went on an 8-1 run to take a 15-14 lead. The teams traded points until Hannibal edged out WBU to take the set 25-22.
After Hannibal went on a 10-1 run in the second set to take a 19-8 lead, the Eagles responded with a 12-4 run to come within three points of the Trojans. Despite the effort, HLGU finished out the second set to win 25-20 and go up 2-0.
WBU was unable to find an opening on offense in the third set, falling 25-6 to finish off the match and fall to 0-2 in AMC play.
Next, Williams will head back home to take on Crowley's Ridge on Thursday, Oct. 3 in WBU's annual Pink-Out Game. The match will start at 6 p.m. in the Southerland-Mabee Center.
