Eagles Sweep Eutectics for Third Straight WIn
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/1/24) – The Williams Baptist volleyball team took home its third straight win after it swept the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in an American Midwest Conference matchup 25-15, 25-15, 25-13 inside the Walnut Ridge High School Gymnasium on Friday night.
Tinleigh Ruhman led the Eagles in kills with nine on a .286 hitting percentage. Ruhman also led the squad with four blocks on the night. Jaycie Cook racked up 26 assists as the main setter for the Eagles.
As a team, the Eagles hit at a .167 clip and held the Eutectics to a -.077 mark.
WBU took control of the match early with seven straight points behind the strong serve of Faith Raymond to go up 7-0. A 6-0 run later in the set led by Jaycie Cook forced a Eutectic timeout to give WBU a 23-11 lead. The Eagles clinched the first set on a kill from Raymond with a 25-15 set score.
Two kills from Ruhman powered a 10-2 run in the second set that gave Williams a 14-6 lead. UHSP came back within four after a service ace from Amber Loo, but WBU took the last six points of the set powered by two aces from Hope Raymond for a 25-15 win in the second set.
After a kill from UHSP's Hannah Kyanston tied the third set at 11-11, WBU rattled off a 12-1 run behind the serves of Hope Raymond and Alonna Thomas to take a convincing 23-12 lead. Meadow Jones notched the final kill of the match, giving WBU the victory in straight sets.
The win moves Williams to 8-17 overall and 3-5 in AMC play. The Eagles return to the court on Saturday, Nov. 2 to take on Harris-Stowe State. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center on the campus of Williams Baptist University.
