Jonker Named AMC Cross Country Runner of the Week
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/21/24) – For the first time in her career, Williams Baptist University cross country runner Aletta Jonker was named the American Midwest Conference women's runner of the week, the league office announced on Monday.
Jonker earned the honor after an eighth place finish in the Mikayla Sherrill Fall Classic on Saturday, completing the 5K course in 20:25.3. The Arkansas State transfer set a season best time in the race, finishing only 25 seconds behind her collegiate best.
Jonker is the first Lady Eagle to earn the AMC Runner of the Week award since Emma Shaw claimed the honor in 2021.
Eagles cross country will return to the course on Friday, November 8 for the AMC Cross Country Championships in Hannibal, Mo.
